Additionally, 40 cases have been confirmed in nearby Acton as well as 17 in Agua Dulce.
An analysis of available data indicates that as of Thursday, July 23, less than half (approximately 45.4 percent) of all cumulative cases in and around the Santa Clarita Valley can be attributed to the inmate population at the North County Correctional Facility and the Pitchess Detention Center.
Public health officials are not releasing recovery numbers by city, according to the department.
As of Wednesday, July 22, Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital has conducted 4,931 COVID-19 tests. Of those,574 have tested positive, and 302 tests are still pending with Henry Mayo, according to Patrick Moody, spokesperson for the hospital.
There are 25 patients in the hospital as of Wednesday, while 159 patients have been discharged since the hospital’s first case was reported in March, according to Moody.
A majority of all deaths in the county had underlying health conditions, according to public health, further encouraging those with medical issues to stay home, if possible.

When you analyze the data you’ve reported according to the facts you’ve stated—-
Prisoner Cases = 1816
All SCV combined cases=431 (without prisoners)
Total = 2,247
“ An analysis of available data indicates that as of Thursday, July 23, less than half (approximately 45.4 percent) of all cumulative cases in and around the Santa Clarita Valley can be attributed to the inmate population at the North County Correctional Facility and the Pitchess Detention Center.‘
Shouldn’t the correct statement be:
An analysis of available data indicates that as of Thursday, July 23, less than half (approximately 80.8 percent) of all cumulative cases in and around the Santa Clarita Valley can be attributed to the inmate population at the North County Correctional Facility and the Pitchess Detention Center.
Totally agree with Scott here. The headline does not highlight the true status amongst the populous in SCV. Our city council should be meeting daily with the LA County health director with a plan to reopen businesses, even if just for SCV residents initially, due to our geographic and true infection rates which are extremely low. This is getting ridiculous. We are going to need to pressure those in charge for them to change their actions. They will not do it on their own.
Why do all the news outlets keep giving inaccurate or partial data? And what happens to them if they don’t?
Maybe the editor at KHTS could chime in and explain it to us. Is KHTS paid to lie, or just punished if they don’t?
