An additional COVID-19 death has been confirmed by officials at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital Tuesday.
Tuesday’s confirmed death brings the death total for the Santa Clarita Valley to at least 22, according to public health officials.
Due to patient privacy laws, the age and any information regarding underlying health conditions about the patient are unable to be released, according to a hospital spokesperson.
As of Tuesday, Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital has conducted 2,045 COVID-19 tests, with 234 positive, 2,013 negative and 60 pending, according to a hospital spokesperson.
Some patients are tested multiple times, creating a discrepancy in the numbers, according to hospital officials.
While three patients are currently being treated a total of 91 total patients have recovered and been released since the pandemic began earlier this year.
Public health officials are not releasing recovery numbers by city, according to the department.
As of Tuesday afternoon, a total of 2,326 cumulative cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in the Santa Clarita Valley since testing began in March. These include:
- 847 in the City of Santa Clarita*
- 36 in the unincorporated areas of Canyon Country
- 1,305 in Castaic*
- Four in the unincorporated areas of Saugus
- 37 in Stevenson Ranch
- 11 in the unincorporated areas of Valencia
- 84 in the unincorporated areas of Val Verde
- One in the unincorporated areas of Newhall
- One in the unincorporated areas of Bouquet Canyon
*As of Monday, June 8, officials had recorded 1,306 cumulative cases among prisoners at the North County Correctional Facility, and 449 at the Peter J. Pitchess Detention Center. Those cases are counted in both the Santa Clarita and Castaic totals.
Additionally, 13 cases have been confirmed in nearby Agua Dulce, as well as 10 in Acton.
A Santa Clarita testing center opened on April 8 at the College of the Canyons Valencia campus.
This site is one of several that are up and running around the county, and the first in the Santa Clarita Valley.
Testing is set to run from 7 a.m. to approximately 5 p.m., seven days per week, according to the college.
The Santa Clarita coronavirus testing site is expected to continue at least until June, according to County officials.
Residents are encouraged to stay at home, according to the county public health order.
