At Least 58 Santa Clarita Coronavirus Cases Confirmed, Nine Hospitalized

At least 58 Santa Clarita Valley coronavirus cases have been confirmed as of Wednesday, officials said.

Nine of the cases of coronavirus in Santa Clarita have required hospitalization, according to Patrick Moody, spokesperson for Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital.

As of Wednesday, Henry Mayo has administered a total of 241 tests, with 184 of which have returned negative, and 33 are positive, according to Moody.

Wednesday’s report adds five cases to the total count.

Other health centers in the Santa Clarita Valley are also conducting coronavirus tests, according to public health officials.

As of Tuesday, Los Angeles County statistics show that 50 of the local cases of coronavirus had been confirmed within the city of Santa Clarita, and three cases have been confirmed in the unincorporated areas of Castaic.

The numbers for the unincorporated portions of Canyon Country, Valencia and Stevenson Ranch have been “suppressed,” meaning there are between one and four confirmed cases for each community, according to the Department of Public Health.

This is done to protect patient privacy. Once these locations have five or more confirmed cases, the numbers are expected to be included, according to a public health spokesperson.

The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases for the Santa Clarita Valley ranges from at least 58 to up to 62, according to the Department of  Public Health.

Due to testing shortages, these numbers are only the confirmed cases, which could be much lower than the actual number of coronavirus cases in Santa Clarita.

Residents are encouraged to stay at home, according to the county public health order.

  1. Cautionary Tale-

Although you showed no signs or symptoms you tested positive for the virus but only after your spouse and three children who have stayed home for two weeks came down with it. How could this have happened?

Was it from one of your many trips to the store vainly trying to find supplies?
Was it the ride home you gave your coworker on the last day at work?
Was it from the bus you rode while your car was in the shop?
Was it standing in line at the DMV that did it?
Was the cash back you received from the bank?
Was it from the pump handle at the gas station?
Was it from the clothes you wore that picked up the virus?
Was it from touching your shoes when removing them?

You’ll never know for certain, but as a result:
One of your children did not survive.
Your parents who you checked on so faithfully became infected and died.
Your spouse is still critically ill and in need of a ventilator but because they are in short supply, there is a waiting list. They are #137 in line.

You wish you had taken more precautions.

    • Hi Denny,
Exactly ! Thank you for reminding everybody to protect themselves and to care of the people around them and the whole community ,

    • Denny, considering that there are ASYMPTOMATIC cases of COVID-19 occurring, why are you throwing supposition into the mix? Are you insinuating that the people who tested positive KNOWINGLY infected others?
For a person who was asymptomatic but tested positive, you are chastising them. Sure, you call it a ‘cautionary tale’ and to some extent, your post shows all the ways this virus can be passed on, but it reeks of accusation, more than cautionary.

    • Hey Denny,
This article is so RIGHT ON!
If you must go out, leave your kids at home or have a neighbor ck on them. No reason to bring them to the store.
Groups of kids riding bikes together in the field is a huge Petri dish
      USE COMMON SENSE!
      Thank you for your comments

    • Thanks ?,
This was right on q. I wear a Mask outdoors, but so many other ways to catch it. Thanks for highlighting the other ways.

  2. CDC lied to us about wearing masks in public because they didn’t want us to buy them up. If they would have told us a few weeks ago to cover our mouths and nose out in public with a mask or something we would have less deaths and less infected. Don’t go into public places where there are people without a mask or something covering your mouth and nose.

  3. Will, if you are blaming others look no further than the liar-in-chief who proclaimed on February 26, 2020 on national television that only 15 cases of COVID-19 existed. That was a lie. Let’s not forget over 3 weeks ago he also asserted that anyone who wanted to be tested could be tested. That is still a lie. Oh, who can forget him stating “it’s just like the flu.” Another lie. But wait, it gets better, he also said “this is under control,” ‘I take NO responsibility,” and who can forget him bragging about his “ratings” being better than a reality TV show just days prior to having to admit that 100,000-240,000 Americans may die. Everyday he is given his bully pulpit, he lies to the American public. He is the worst president ever. History will judge his ineffectiveness, his lack of leadership, his lack of morality, ethics, humanity and penchant for mendacity. November can’t come fast enough.

  4. SACRAMENTO — Assemblyman Tom Lackey, whose h District includes portions of the Santa Clarita Valley, recently introduced a bill to close a state loophole that allows vehicle break-ins to go unpunished. AB 395 would make forcibly entering a vehicle with the intent to commit theft a crime punishable by imprisonment.
