Henry Mayo Reaches Grim Milestone Of 200 COVID-19 Deaths

Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital reported two additional COVID-19 deaths on Friday, bringing the total number of confirmed coronavirus-related deaths at the Santa Clarita healthcare provider to 200.

The two additional deaths announced on Friday bring the total number of deaths at the hospital to 200, according to Patrick Moody, spokesperson for Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital.

The first case of coronavirus in the Santa Clarita Valley was reported at Henry Mayo on March 13, 2020, and since then, approximately 53,387 cases have been identified and at least 359 deaths have been reported in the community as of the most recent count by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.

As of Friday, there were 76 COVID-19 patients hospitalized, a return to numbers seen last weekend after a spike in hospitalizations midweek. In addition, a total of 1,838 patients had been discharged from Henry Mayo’s care since March of 2020.

“We ask those who are looking for COVID-19 testing only to please visit a community testing site, an urgent care clinic, or their primary care physician’s office,” Moody said. “To help ensure hospital emergency departments can care for those who have serious symptoms or conditions, please do not visit a hospital emergency room for COVID testing only.”
