L.A. County Health Reinstates Mask Requirement On Public Transit, Rideshares, Airports

Masks Required On Planes, Trains And Rideshares In L.A. County

On Thursday, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health announced that a new health officer order would continue to require masks on all public transit, rideshare services, and indoor transportation hubs like airports.

TSA No Longer Enforcing Mask Mandate

The move comes within a few days after a judge in Florida struck down the federal mask mandate, and the Transporation Security Administration announced it would no longer enforce the federal government’s maks mandate for travel.

“TSA will no longer enforce its Security Directives and Emergency Amendment requiring mask use on public transportation and transportation hubs,” read the announcement. “TSA will also rescind the new Security Directives that were scheduled to take effect tomorrow. CDC continues to recommend that people wear masks in indoor public transportation settings at this time.”

Per the L.A. County order, which goes into effect Friday, masks are required to be worn by everyone age 2 and older, regardless of their COVID-19 vaccine status.

This includes wearing masks on commuter trains, subways, buses, taxis, and ride-shares such as Uber and Lyft.

Masking continues to be also required in indoor transportation hubs including airport and bus terminals, train and subway stations, seaport or other indoor port terminals, or any other indoor area that serves as a transportation hub.

Public Health plans to reassess the indoor masking requirement when COVID-19 community transmission in Los Angeles County drops to the Moderate level, OR the CDC’s assessment is that an order requiring masking in the transportation corridor is no longer necessary for protection of the public’s health, or within 30 days of this Order, whichever occurs first, according to LA Public Health.

  1. Semi false story.

Ferrer cannot institute any rule to have you wear a mask on a plane. You might want to change your headline.

  2. Airports is in the title, not airplanes.
