The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (LADPH) encourages L.A. County Santa Clarita residents to enjoy Mother’s Day safely by celebrating outdoors with masks and distancing or virtually to protect any elderly that aren’t vaccinated.
LADPH recommends avoiding large crowds and the wearing of face coverings in businesses, stores and restaurants this weekend. For those traveling for Mother’s Day, Public Health advocates for all local and national public health testing and quarantine guidelines to be followed. Vaccination centers are set to remain open on Mother’s Day.
“While transmission is low and we continue to see declines in cases, hospitalizations, and deaths, we are approaching the terrible milestone of 24,000 COVID-19 deaths in L.A. County,” said Barbara Ferrer, Director of Public Health. “There continues to be higher risk of COVID-19 transmission and severe health outcomes among unvaccinated people. Please get vaccinated as soon as you can. Protecting yourself and your family by getting vaccinated is the best gift you can give this Mother’s Day.”
As of Saturday, there are 379 people with COVID-19 currently hospitalized and 23 percent of these people are in the ICU.
Public Health reported 20 new deaths as well as 415 new COVID-19 cases across L.A. County on Friday.
To date, L.A. County has experienced 1,235,422 COVID-19 cases as well as 23,995 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic according to Public Health.
Nearly 6,571,000 individuals have been tested across L.A. County, with 17 percent of people testing positive, Public Health officials said. Today’s test positivity rate is 0.6 percent.
On Saturday, 11 new COVID-19 cases were reported in the Santa Clarita Valley, with 26,909 cumulative cases having been reported in the valley over the past year, according to the LADPH. These cases include:
- 20,345 in the City of Santa Clarita* (+9)
- 47 in the unincorporated areas of Bouquet Canyon
- 842 in the unincorporated areas of Canyon Country
- 3,730 in Castaic*
- 68 in the unincorporated areas of Newhall
- 1 in Placerita Canyon
- 15 in San Francisquito/Bouquet Canyon
- 17 in unincorporated Sand Canyon
- 130 in the unincorporated areas of Saugus
- 40 in the unincorporated areas of Saugus/Canyon Country
- 1,143 in Stevenson Ranch (+1)
- 337 in the unincorporated areas of Val Verde
- 194 in the unincorporated areas of Valencia (+1)
*As of Saturday, May 8, public health officials have recorded 2,027 cumulative cases have been reported at the Peter J. Pitchess Detention Center, including 1,478 at the North County Correctional Facility. Those cases are distributed between both the City of Santa Clarita and Castaic totals. In nearby Acton, there have been 471(+1) cumulative cases, as well as 280(+1) cases in Agua Dulce.
A total of 145 coronavirus deaths have been reported at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital, with at least 291 COVID-19 deaths reported across the Santa Clarita Valley since March 2020.

Anthony Fauci just predicted today, Sundy during ABC’s “This Week” with George Stephanopoulos that America will be “as close to back to normal as we can by “next Mother’s Day” if certain conditions are met.
Fauci said, “I hope that next Mother’s Day, we’re going to see a dramatic difference than what we’re seeing right now.
Really, I find it hard to believe that folks will still be listening to either one of these Charlatans.
So, 4th of July is now been moved to Mother’s Day 2022, and 6 more booster shots on its way.

The only thing people need to do is buy earplugs to tune these clowns out then on the 4th of July go buy bottle rockets and attach all the masks they’ve wasted money on to them and fire them off into the Pacific Ocean and never look back.
