A Santa Clarita-based lab, Bocchi Laboratories, produced and donated cases of hand sanitizer to Providence Holy Cross.
Bocchi Laboratories, a Santa Clarita-based business, produced over 500 bottles of hand sanitizer and donated them to Providence Holy Cross.
“As COVID-19 continues to impact our community, Bocchi Laboratories would like to thank [Providence Holy Cross Medical Center] for all you do to keep us safe, to keep us well and to keep us together,” wrote Bob Bocchi, the lab’s chair.
Bernard Klein, M.D., chief executive of the Mission Hills hospital, met Bocchi Laboratories leaders Joe Pender, chief executive officer, and Mike Hughes, chief financial officer, to personally thank them for the generous donation.

Along with personal protective equipment, social distancing, proper hand washing and the use of alcohol-based sanitizer can help reduce the spread of the coronavirus. Bocchi Laboratories, a local health and beauty products manufacturer, responded to the COVID-19 crisis to support the community, diverting its facilities to produce hand sanitizer.
Robert Robertson, M.D., former medical director of the sub-acute care center at Providence Holy Cross, is a friend of Mr. Bocchi and helped to coordinate the donation.
There is currently no vaccine to prevent coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to this virus. However, as a reminder, CDC always recommends everyday preventive actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory diseases, including:
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
- Stay home when you are sick.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
- Follow CDC’s recommendations for using a facemask.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
