Masks Not Required For Most Indoor Activities For Fully Vaccinated Santa Clarita Residents

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced Thursday that it is updating COVID-19 guidance to say that fully vaccinated people, including those in Santa Clarita, are not required to wear masks or social distance except for in certain situations.

CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky announced the new guidance during a White House COVID-19 briefing Thursday.

“Today, CDC is updating our guidance for fully vaccinated people,” Walensky said. “Anyone who is fully vaccinated can participate in indoor and outdoor activities, large or small, without wearing a mask and fully vaccinated. If you are fully vaccinated, you can start doing the things you have stopped doing because of the pandemic. We have all longed for this moment, when we can get back to some sense of normalcy.”

The CDC still urges fully vaccinated people to wear well-fitted masks when it is required by federal, state or local laws, as well as on private property by businesses, officials said.

As of Thursday morning, a state mask mandate was still in place in California.

Masks are still being required on planes, trains and other types of public transportation, according to officials.

Walensky also warned that people who are immunocompromised should speak with their doctors before they stop wearing masks.

Walensky noted that “the past year has shown us that this virus can be unpredictable, so if things get worse, there is always a chance we may need to make a change to these recommendations.”

  1. Once again, CA will be last to allow any science-based freedom.

    • You know this has been a real killer – today, in India, they have run out of wood because there are so many cremations – streams of bodies floating down river. I know we all want to get back to normal – I do – but until the idiots that refuse to take measures to mitigate this (either mask or vaccinate), it’s a complex problem to resolve. I suggest giving it more than five hours to come up with a solution.

      • This is a virus and that has a 99.8% recovery rate! Are you really that gullible to believe it’s something more? If you think you should get the shot do it! If someone doesn’t want to be a lab rat then it none of your business

        • Right on Chris, when I had it, my body rid of it in 4 days, why would I disrupt my immune system that obviously worked? My condition called CS works too. It’s called common sense, some people should try it some time instead of being fear mongered by the corporate toady shill media.

      • Yet not a single issue in Haiti. No masks. No distancing. No hand sanitizer. No plexiglass or face shields. Zero issues. Zero Covid. Ever.

  2. OR You can now wear the same masks that were worn during the BLM “social gatherings”.

  3. When government fears the people there’s liberty
When the people fear the government there’s tyranny.

  4. CDC should state that if you caught it and recovered, there’s no need to wear a mask either. There is no evidence that states you are less likely to catch or transmit the disease if you’ve already had it than someone who is vaccinated. No good data on how long immunity will last for either one.
