Newsom Announces Six Flags Tickets For Coronavirus Vaccinations

On Wednesday, California’s Governor Gavin Newsom announced the start of a new initiative involving Six Flags tickets, designed to get California residents, including those in the Santa Clarita Valley, vaccinated for COVID-19.

Governor Newsom announced on Wednesday that California residents who have yet to receive a vaccine may have a new incentive to get one: a possible ticket to any Six Flags park in California.

“50,000 free tickets in 65 locations,” Newsom said on the initiative. “You get a single dose of vaccine in one of these 65 locations, in 13 different counties working in partnership with 14 different organizations, you will get a free ticket.”

Tickets are reportedly distributed through California’s 65 participating vaccination clinics, according to California government officials.

In his address, Governor Newsom used the Six Flags announcement to acknowledge the difficulties faced by the hospitality and entertainment industries in California during the pandemic, including Six Flags Magic Mountain.

The announcement of Six Flags tickets for adults receiving vaccinations follows the governor’s announcement Tuesday regarding California’s reopening.

“No more social distancing,” tweeted Newsom on Tuesday. “No more capacity limits. No more colors or county tiers. And if you’re vaccinated—no more masks. It’s a good day.”

Reopening guidelines have ended a majority of coronavirus restrictions, including physical distancing, capacity limits and county tiers, according to California government officials.

“California has turned the page. Let us all celebrate this remarkable milestone,” Newsom said. “Today is a day to reconnect with strangers, loved ones, family members. Give people hugs.”

The California Department of Industrial Relations, which encompasses the California Occupational Safety and Health Administration (Cal/OSHA), has said employees must still provide proof of vaccination before being allowed to remove their masks.

Masking is also still required in hospitals, long-term care facilities, homeless shelters, on public transit and indoors in K-12 schools, childcare and other facilities with many children, according to the state of California.

“Bottom line is that we are encouraging you to get vaccines beyond yesterday’s announcement,” Newsom said. “We are mindful of the work that still needs to be done.”

  1. “California has turned the page. Let us all celebrate this remarkable milestone,” Newsom said.
Water rationing, sky high gas prices, power grid failures, wildfires… But hey,
I got an idea, let’s start a new initiative giving away Six Flags tickets,
    Isn’t hey wonderful,

  2. How bout we raffle off a ticket and the winner gets to announce your no longer the governor of California….

  3. Going to Costco yesterday everywhere I looked were new housing tracts and more housing going up. Now they are asking us to conserve water and basic necessities. Nothing makes sense anymore. Oh, lines of traffic on every street. Does anybody have a job here? I’m retired but I used to be at work or on the train 8 hours a day.

  4. Newsom is getting desperate to not get recalled.

  5. How about Newsom return the tens of millions of stimulus dollars he gave to undocumented immigrants. He does it all without voter approval, and with the Leftists super majority in Sacramento. Our votes do not matter.

  6. This is very unethical!
This is NOT what tax money is intended for!
Recall this fool, I bet he thinks he’ll save his job with this nonsense !

    #recallnewsom
