Over 115 New COVID-19 Cases Reported In Santa Clarita Valley

Over 115 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the Santa Clarita Clarita Valley on Sunday.

An additional 118 Santa Clarita Valley coronavirus cases were reported Sunday, for a total of 9,447 cumulative cases in the valley since testing began in March, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (LADPH).

These cases include:

  • 6,191 in the City of Santa Clarita* (+99)
  • 222 in the unincorporated areas of Canyon Country (+2)
  • 2,411 in Castaic* (+13)
  • 50 in the unincorporated areas of Saugus
  • 307 in Stevenson Ranch (+4)
  • 64 in the unincorporated areas of Valencia (-1)
  • 119 in the unincorporated areas of Val Verde
  • 36 in the unincorporated areas of Newhall (+1)
  • 16 in the unincorporated areas of Bouquet Canyon
  • 14 in the unincorporated areas of Saugus/Canyon Country
  • Seven in unincorporated Sand Canyon
  • Three in San Francisquito/Bouquet Canyon

*As of Thursday, Nov. 26 public health officials have recorded 1,900 cumulative cases have been reported at the Peter J. Pitchess Detention Center, including 1,378 at the North County Correctional Facility. Those cases are distributed between both the City of Santa Clarita and Castaic totals.

LADPH reported one fewer case in the unincorporated area of Valencia from the previous day’s report, possibly having misappropriated the location of the new case.

Additionally, 113 cumulative cases were confirmed in nearby Acton as well as 60 in Agua Dulce.

An analysis of available data indicates that as of Thursday, Nov. 26, approximately 20.9 percent of all cumulative cases in and around the Santa Clarita Valley can be attributed to the inmate population at the North County Correctional Facility and the Pitchess Detention Center.

As of Wednesday, Nov. 25, Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital has conducted 12,107 COVID-19 tests. Of those, 1,305 have tested positive, and five tests are still pending with Henry Mayo, according to Patrick Moody, spokesperson for the hospital.

There are 42 patients in the hospital as of Wednesday, Nov. 25 while 367 patients have been discharged since the hospital’s first case was reported in March, according to Moody.

The number of patients at Henry Mayo has nearly doubled since the last update on Nov. 18.

There have been a total of 37 coronavirus deaths at the hospital, with at least 82 COVID-19 deaths reported across the Santa Clarita Valley.

  1. These reports lack the basic details to clarify the ‘composition’ of these ‘cases’

    Please demand all reports of this ‘news’ include basic details so the consumers of said ‘news’ can understand what a ‘case’ is and what category it belongs in
