Over 90 new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed within the Santa Clarita Valley as of Saturday afternoon.

As of Saturday afternoon, a total of 2,074 cumulative cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in the Santa Clarita Valley since testing began in March. These include:

  • 829 in the City of Santa Clarita*
  • 36 in the unincorporated areas of Canyon Country
  • 1131 in Castaic*
  • Four in the unincorporated areas of Saugus
  • 35 in Stevenson Ranch
  • Nine in the unincorporated areas of Valencia
  • 28 in the unincorporated areas of Val Verde
  • One in the unincorporated areas of Newhall
  • One in the unincorporated areas of Bouquet Canyon

*As of Friday, June 5, officials had recorded 1,299 cumulative cases among prisoners at the North County Correctional Facility, and 154 at the Peter J. Pitchess Detention Center. Those cases are counted in both the Santa Clarita and Castaic totals.

Additionally, ten cases have been confirmed in nearby Agua Dulce, as well as 13 in Action.

The Department of Public Health redistributed cases among several areas of Santa Clarita on Wednesday, causing a reduction in reported cases in Canyon Country and Stevenson Ranch

As of Wednesday, Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital has conducted 1,824 COVID-19 tests, with 227 positive, 1,810 negative and 17 pending, according to a hospital spokesperson.

Some patients are tested multiple times, creating a discrepancy in the numbers, according to hospital officials.

While eight patients are currently being treated a total of 84 total patients have recovered and been released since the pandemic began earlier this year.

Public health officials are not releasing recovery numbers by city, according to the department.

  1. Castaic is not apart of the Santa Clarita valley, why are the numbers there included?

    • They are IN this valley. They’re going to the same places I go to presumably. I for one want to know their statistics as well. Why are we arguing semantics of city property lines?

  2. either is Stevenson ranch..

  3. Because the jails have split jurisdiction.

  4. Eeeeeeeee maybe because it’s better to understand the threat/environment around you than to get bogged down in territorialism? … ??‍♂️

It’s pretty well known the virus doesn’t know the difference and with that information people like our 1st responders and health care workers can make informed decisions since they’re the ones on the front lines of this pandemic ?

  5. Is Valencia Westridge included with Stevenson Ranch or Incorporate Area of Valencia?

  6. The reported numbers are a mess and not helping anyone understand anything. At this point, it must be intentional.

Would it be so hard to list separately the numbers of the Pitchess infected inmates?

Why are they being reported under any of the communities when they are not comingling at grocery stores, gas stations, etc.?

The Pitchess staff being accounted for under the communities in which they live makes sense.

Please sort the numbers more reasonably.

  7. I’m sure by the broader description Santa Clarita “Valley” they’re taking in consideration nearby cities. Other than just the city of “Santa Clarita”.

  8. Richard, Castaic is in the Santa Clarita Valley. Just not in city of santa clarita aka”awesometown”
