Santa Clarita Valley Surpasses 20,000 Cumulative COVID-19 Cases

The Santa Clarita Valley has surpassed 20,000 cumulative COVID-19 cases Thursday, with Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (LADPH) Director Dr. Barbara Ferrer stating that the virus is “running rampant right now” throughout the county.

An additional 17,323 COVID-19 cases were reported in Los Angeles County on Thursday, along with 287 deaths, according to Dr. Barbara Ferrer, director of the L.A. County Department of Public Health.

This brings the county’s cumulative total to 975,299 positive cases of COVID-19 and 13,234 deaths since March 2020, according to the department.

“To the families and friends of the more than 13,000 L.A. County residents who have passed away from COVID-19, we send our deepest sympathies,” Ferrer said in a statement Thursday. “When we ask our residents to stay home and follow the rules and businesses to follow the Health Officer Orders, it is to stop the loss of life from COVID-19. This disease is running rampant right now, and we continue to plead with residents, businesses and government, the community to do all possible to stop the spread.”

As of Thursday, there were 7,906 people hospitalized with COVID-19, 21 percent of which were in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Testing results are available for nearly 5,120,000 individuals with 18 percent of people testing positive.

According to California health officials, the Southern California Region has 0.0% staffed adult ICU capacity remaining as of Thursday.

Health officials say that at its current rate, one person in Los Angeles County dies of COVID-19 every eight minutes.

  1. Where are the outbreak areas?! Where’s the dot map to help keep us safe?! The numbers statistics are fine, but, where are the outbreak areas?! Keep our families safe by telling the truth/facts!

  2. Seymour: What, who are you covering up for?! Of course we mask, distance and not crowd, but where are the large outbreaks you’re trying to keep secret from the citizens?! Example: We want to walk our dog at a park, if the truth/facts were told, we could choose a safer park a mile away instead of the one in more danger. Please stop sweeping the truth/facts under the carpet if you really cared about others rather than PC lies!

  3. Ricardo, the only covering up I’m doing is asking people to cover up and wear a mask. And in your case, especially since Parks seem to be one place in Santa Clarita, where most think masks are optional(well, not including religious service concerts that draw thousands, that’s a whole other story). Now with numbers continuing to surge in LA county you might as well assume it’s everywhere. I am broken record, I know.

  4. Same as if light rain was everywhere, one had a full raincoat & boots and we knew there was horrible continuous thunderstorms, a wise person, if they were made aware of the area of continuous horrible downpour, one would try to stay away from that worse area for the safety of their family, Logic not rationalized Emotions!!
