Two additional cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed within the Santa Clarita Valley as of Monday afternoon, as a backlog of testing has been reported.

As of Monday afternoon, a total of 2,730 cumulative cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in the Santa Clarita Valley since testing began in March. These include:

• 894 in the City of Santa Clarita*
• 39 in the unincorporated areas of Canyon Country
• 1,715 in Castaic* 
• Five in the unincorporated areas of Saugus
• 40 in Stevenson Ranch 
• 12 in the unincorporated areas of Valencia
• 23 in the unincorporated areas of Val Verde
• One in the unincorporated areas of Newhall
• One in the unincorporated areas of Bouquet Canyon

*As of Saturday, June 13, officials had recorded 1,309 cumulative cases among prisoners at the North County Correctional Facility, and 485 at the Peter J. Pitchess Detention Center. Those cases are counted in both the Santa Clarita and Castaic totals. 

Saturday, June 13, Castaic reported 1,720 cumulative cases. On Sunday, the total case count for the area had decreased by one, further decreasing by four cases on Monday for a total of 1,715 cumulative cases. 

The Department of Public Health did not comment on the reason these numbers have been decreasing for Castaic as of Monday afternoon. 

Additionally, nine cases have been confirmed in nearby Agua Dulce, as well as 19 in Acton.

As of Tuesday, Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital has conducted 2,045 COVID-19 tests, with 234 positive, 2,013 negative and 60 pending, according to a hospital spokesperson.

Some patients are tested multiple times, creating a discrepancy in the numbers, according to hospital officials.

While three patients are currently being treated, a total of 91 total patients have recovered and been released since the pandemic began earlier this year.

Public health officials are not releasing recovery numbers by city, according to the department.
