UPDATE: At Least 74 Santa Clarita Coronavirus Cases Confirmed, 13 Hospitalized

At least 74 Santa Clarita coronavirus cases have been confirmed in the valley, officials said Thursday.

A total of 13 of the coronavirus cases in Santa Clarita have required hospitalization, according to Patrick Moody, spokesperson for Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital.

As of Thursday, Henry Mayo has administered a total of 254 tests, with 199 of which have returned negative, and 41 are positive, according to Moody.

Some of the numbers “don’t add up exactly because some patients are tested more than once,” Moody said.

Thursday’s report adds eight cases to the total count.

Other health centers in the Santa Clarita Valley are also conducting coronavirus tests, according to the L.A. County Department of Public Health.

As of Thursday, there are 65 confirmed cases in the city of Santa Clarita, four in Castaic and five in Stevenson Ranch, according to public health officials.

The numbers for the unincorporated portions of Canyon Country, Valencia and Saugus, as well as nearby Acton, have been “suppressed,” meaning there are between one and four confirmed cases for each community, according to the Department of Public Health.

This is done to protect patient privacy. Once these locations have five or more confirmed cases, the numbers are expected to be included, according to a public health spokesperson.

One death was reported in Santa Clarita on Tuesday after a Santa Clarita Transit bus driver succumbed to the virus, with two others infected.

Due to testing shortages, these numbers are only the confirmed cases, which could be much lower than the actual number of coronavirus cases in Santa Clarita.

Residents are encouraged to stay at home, according to the county public health order.

STAY AT HOME !!! if you need to go out, wear a mask and gloves.

  2. It’s spreading people don’t even go to the grocery store unless you have a mask on, even a simple bandana covering your mouth and nose can save you from breathing in virus particles and others from breathing out virus particles. Never mind the gloves unless you toss them out each time you touch something, hand sanitizer is better you can sanitize after each thing you touch.stay safe

  3. Of course masks aren’t a new concept. That’s why medical professionals use them! Ceebee, I think it has taken a long time for people to catch on & learn about what to do. Remember, COVID-19 was being called a hoax.We still have about 10 states who haven’t implemented the notion of staying home. We have a long road ahead, I’m afraid.
