19-Year-Old Saugus Woman Arrested For DUI, Evading CHP

A 19-year-old Saugus woman was arrested for DUI and evasion after reportedly driving recklessly in the parking lot of Six Flags Magic Mountain.

Around 10:40 p.m. Tuesday, officers with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Newhall Area Office were notified of an erratic driver in the parking lot of Six Flags Magic Mountain, said Officer Carlos Burgos-Lopez, a spokesperson for the CHP.

“The driver had been asked to leave by security prior to erratic driving behavior,” Burgos-Lopez said. “CHP units located the vehicle and attempted to conduct an enforcement stop; however, the driver fled.”

CHP units conducted a pursuit intervention technique (PIT) on the vehicle, which brought the chase to an end.

Kayla Chavez, 19, from Saugus, was arrested for misdemeanor fleeing/evading, trespassing, driving on a suspended license, and driving under the influence while under the age of 21, according to Burgos-Lopez.

Chavez was booked into the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail.

  1. A year in the Pokey should be about right to change her behavior.

    • Totally agree. And make her be on a work crew 6 days a week while behind bars. No probation until she has served at least half her time. Unless the punishment is painful, she will not learn.

  2. Call ICE for all your deportation needs.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
