54 percent of arrests made in Santa Clarita over the weekend were drug or alcohol-related, officials said.
Between Friday, June 12, and Sunday, June 14, deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station and California Highway Patrol officers made 24 arrests, according to weekend booking logs.
Week-over-week, the total number of arrests in Santa Clarita fell by 20 percent.
Of the 24 arrests, 13 were drugs or alcohol-related, including six instances of driving under the influence and five arrests on charges of substance possession.
A number of different charges comprised the remaining arrests for the weekend.
Three separate arrests were made in response to domestic incidents over the weekend, which resulted in charges of corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant. Each of the three men arrested had their bail set at $50,000.
Additionally, three individuals aged 23 to 24 were apprehended and arrested Friday afternoon around 4:00 p.m. on felony grand theft charges.
Individuals residing outside of the Santa Clarita Valley made up the majority of arrests, accounting for 14 of the 24.
