There were 23 Santa Clarita weekend crime arrests, with 70 percent of the suspects from out of the area, officials said.
Starting Friday, July 24 through Sunday, July 26, 23 individuals were arrested by local law enforcement, one fewer than the previous weekend, according to arrest records.
Of the 23 arrested, seven were for DUI and four were for being in possession of drugs or drug paraphernalia.
Although crime was slightly lower this last weekend compared to the previous weekend roundup, crime arrests are below average for the area.
On a typical weekend, Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s deputies and California Highway Patrol officers typically arrest between 38 to 45 individuals, according to previous arrest records.
Other than the five individuals arrested for drug and alcohol offenses, several others were arrested for credit card theft, evading law enforcement and grand theft of a firearm.
Of the 23 individuals arrested over the weekend, 16 of them, 70 percent, were from out of the area with one of the suspects from Santa Ana, California.
