75 Percent Of Santa Clarita Weekend Crime Arrests Out Of Area Residents

There were 24 Santa Clarita weekend crime arrests, with 75 percent of the suspects from out of the area, officials said.

Starting Friday, July 17 through Sunday, July 19, 24 individuals were arrested by local law enforcement, six more than the previous weekend, according to arrest records.

Of the 24 arrested, five were for DUI and three were for being in possession of drugs or drug paraphernalia.

Although crime was up by about 25 percent this last weekend compared to the previous weekend roundup, crime arrests are below average for the area.

On a typical weekend, Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s deputies and California Highway Patrol officers typically arrest between 38 to 45 individuals, according to previous arrest records.

Other than the eight individuals arrested for drug and alcohol offenses, others were arrested for credit card theft, evading law enforcement and grand theft of a firearm.

Of the 24 individuals arrested over the weekend, 18 of them, 75 percent, were from out of the area with one of the suspects from Tacoma, Washington.

  1. Thank LEOs for your hard work, keeping our community safe! One of the few communities left that has not been overwhelmed with homelessness, crime, prostitution, vandalism.

  2. Unfortunately, casual drug users are fueling this activity. Demand here is very high which is a real shame. If we cant get demand under control, these suppliers will continue supplying their customers and bring all of this crime in with them. Many parents out here have no idea what their kids are into and frankly, I don’t think they want to know. It is easier to be their friends than their parents. It needs to be said, stop using, even casually and this issue goes away. It is sad in this Country how many people waste their lives with this crap.

  3. Another great job by law enforcement. We are safe thanks to these brave men and women.

The majority of U.S. citizens support law enforcement. It is amazing how the hate group BLM, and other scum Leftist politicians are gaining momentum, to defund law enforcement.

  5. Thank you LEO’s. We back you 100%

  6. The word Defund really should be changed to Repurpose. Use the $ differently.

  7. What arrests? With the no bail and police defending crap these thugs are out by now… only to get “arrested” again in 2-3 days…, what a socialistic joke !

  8. Insanity lurks!! Thanks, Liberals, Democraps, communists, Socialists for ruining from Seattle to San Diego, Minneapolis, Chicago, Baltimore, etc.! Disg!!

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
