An arson suspect was arrested after an Instagram post helped deputies identify a man reportedly involved in an arson incident behind a Santa Clarita business, officials said.
A man was arrested this past week in connection with an arson that occurred behind a Santa Clarita business thanks in part to a post in Instagram, according to officials.
“On June 6, a post on Instagram featured a suspect clad in bright pink shorts and a dark-colored shirt,” reads a Facebook post from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. “The man had been arrested twice by deputies in a matter of hours on narcotics charges.”
A few days after the Instagram post, detectives with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Arson and Explosive unit sent out a bulletin asking for help in identifying an arson suspect, according to officials.
“Included in the bulletin were images of a suspect, wearing bright pink shorts and a dark-colored shirt, obtained from the store’s surveillance cameras,” the Facebook post reads. “Several observant deputies immediately recognized the suspect from the Instagram photo.”
Deputies provided the arson detectives with this information, and the detectives continued their investigation. The suspect was then arrested on arson charges, and went back to jail for the third time, in less than a week, according to officials.
It is unknown at this time if the man arrested is connected to any of the other fires that have occurred in the Santa Clarita Valley over the past several weeks.

Well, at least someone is looking for an arsonist behind last weeks fires. They were obviously set by someone. If it is homeless, they need to get those folks out of the river and into shelters before they start larger and more damaging fires.
