An assault suspect was arrested Wednesday after allegedly attempting to cut her sister with a kitchen knife during an altercation, officials said.
At about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, deputies responded to a residence in a neighborhood near Sand Canyon Road in Canyon Country regarding a call for service for reported vandalism, according to Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
The call stated the suspect, an 18-year-old woman, was destroying multiple items inside the family home, according to Arriaga.
“During a verbal argument between the suspect and her sister, the suspect began throwing items around the home as well as physically assaulting the sister,” Arriaga said.
As they continued to argue, the suspect picked up a kitchen knife and cut the sister several times on her arms and legs, according to Arriaga.
“As the suspect exited the home, the victim managed to lock her out, however, the suspect was able to re-enter,” she said.
The suspect continued to physically assault the victim and vandalize the home, according to Sheriff’s officials.
“A short period later, the suspect’s father arrived home and detained the suspect as she tried to flee the home,” Arriaga said.
The suspect began to physically assault the father by scratching at his upper torso while being detained, allowing herself to be freed, according to investigators.
The suspect fled the home, driven by an acquaintance, according to Arriaga.
Deputies investigated the current whereabouts of the suspect and were soon informed the suspect would be taken to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
Deputies arrested the suspect at the station for assault with a deadly weapon, felony vandalism and misdemeanor battery, according to Arriaga.
The victims suffered minor injuries and were released on scene.
