A suspect who allegedly assaulted a Palmdale Sheriff’s deputy led law enforcement on a high-speed pursuit through Santa Clarita Monday.

Around 10:20 a.m. Monday, officers with the California Highway Patrol took over a high-speed pursuit on the 14 Freeway near Agua Dulce Canyon Road, according to officials.

UPDATE 11:11 a.m.: The suspect was taken into custody in the West Los Angeles area, according to Greengard.

Deputies with the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station were originally in pursuit of the vehicle after the driver allegedly  drove over a deputy’s foot, according to Officer Josh Greengard, spokesperson for the CHP Newhall Area Office.

As of 11 a.m., the pursuit has entered the southbound 405 Freeway, according to officials.
