Battery Suspect Arrested After Punching Neighbor In The Face

A Newhall man was charged with felony battery after he allegedly punched his neighbor in the face after he touched the suspect’s car mirror, officials said.

Around 5 p.m. Wednesday deputies responded to the 24700 block of Chestnut Street in Newhall regarding a possible battery call, said Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s station.

“The victim, male 30s and the suspect live in the same neighborhood,” Miller said. “There allegedly were some ongoing issues in the past about the parking of their vehicles.”

On Wednesday, the suspect reportedly approached the victim and accused him of touching one of the side mirrors on his car, and then the suspect allegedly began punching the victim several times in the face, according to Miller.

“The victim suffered injuries and was transported to the hospital by paramedics,” Miller said.
Deputies arrested Ricardo Garcia, 30, from Newhall on felony charges of battery with great Bodily injury, Miller said.

Garcia was arrested and transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail with bail set at $50,000, according to arrest records.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
