A battery suspect was arrested after he allegedly assaulted a man during an argument at a Newhall bar.
On Saturday, Nov. 5, the battery victim engaged in a verbal altercation with a bartender at a bar on the 23900 block of Lyons Avenue, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
“As the victim began to walk out of the establishment, the bartender’s husband physically assaulted the victim,” Arriaga said. “The victim then left the location and sought medical treatment at a local hospital for a moderate injuries.”
The suspect remained at large at the time the report was taken, according to Arriaga.
On Monday, deputies contacted Jeffrey Cook, 47, at his residence on the 28800 block of Deodar Place in Santa Clarita where he was arrested for felony battery causing great bodily injury, Arriaga added.
Cook was booked into the SCV Sheriff’s Station and remains in custody as of Tuesday evening.

So a convicted felon caught with a gun, stolen property, and enough Fentanyl to kill everyone in the SCV is immediately released on citation, but a man defending his wife from an unruly drunk gets thrown in jail and left there? This is not equal justice.
My husband was defending and what they failed to include in the article was the Rob Healy had previously been 86 out of the bar, he was trespassing and verbal assaulting me and threatening to come behind my bar which has done in the past.
DA dropped the case and released my husband the next afternoon.
Crazy how false most this information is.
Great reporting Diaz.
Robert Healy the so called victim was verbally assaulting the bartender.
Then went on to threaten her.
Who in the past has gone behind the bar and got in her face because she refused to serve him. Clearly intoxicated. Doing her job per ABC LAWS.
HEALY has a record of harassing and demeaning female bartenders who cut him off.
It’s about time someone stood up and hit him. He got every bit of what he deserved.
Mr Cook hit him then continued to care for the Healy once on the ground.
Mr Cook never fled the scene.
Mr Cook was never at large. Remained in contact with authorities. Personally drove himself to meet the arresting officer.
Got released Tuesday afternoon after DA dropped the case as he was protecting his wife from a threat.
Mr Diaz. You should get your facts straight before posting false information. Not a professional journalist.
