A Canyon Country man was charged with resisting arrest by force and battery after becoming combative with deputies, officials said.
On Friday, July 10, around 8:40 p.m., deputies responded to the 16400 block of Sierra Highway in
Canyon Country regarding a neighbor disturbance call, according to Shirley Miller, spokesperson for
the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
The victim, a female in her 30s, was reportedly outside with her small child when the suspect
allegedly began yelling at her and then sprayed her and her child with water from a garden hose,
Miller said.
“The suspect then threw the garden hose toward the victim,” Miller said. “The suspect became
combative when approached by the deputies.”
Deputies arrested the suspect, Joseph McCreight, on charges of resisting arrest by force, a felony,
and battery, a misdemeanor, according to Miller.
McCreight was booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station and held in lieu of $30,000 bail.
