A Canyon Country man was arrested Tuesday for allegedly engaging in a sexual relationship with a teenage girl he met at work. 

The sexual relationship occurred when a 17-year-old girl and a 26-year-old man worked together and began to date, said Sgt. Joseph Mesa, with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Special Victims Bureau. 

“At some point, they were physically involved, and the female performed oral copulation,” Mesa said. “The female reported there was physical intercourse.”

“The detective had enough evidence indicating the adult knew the victim’s age, according to Mesa.

The victim reported the relationship to law enforcement, however no information was made available as to the reason for notifying deputies. 

Jose Arriaga, 26, from Canyon Country, was arrested for felony oral copulation with a minor, Mesa said. 

He was booked into the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail with bail set at $50,000, according to arrest records.
