Canyon Country Vehicle Break-In Caught On Ring Doorbell, Owners Seek Suspect ID

Footage of a Canyon Country vehicle break-in was caught on a Ring home security doorbell earlier this week, and an image of the getaway vehicle is being shared in hopes of catching the suspect.

The alleged thief was caught on film in a Canyon Country neighborhood near Golden Willow Way, according to the homeowner, Angela Mendez.

Items taken included a handicap placard, sunglasses, vehicle registration and a package of toilet paper, according to Mendez.

“It’s one of the things where I don’t even know what to think of it,” Mendez said. “We can afford to replace it, but it’s also about safety, they don’t know if we were infected. I just think of their family.”

The suspect is described as a petite Hispanic female, driving what appears to be a silver Honda CR-V.

Mendez noted that her family’s vehicle had been locked, however, it did have an electronic key fob, which may have been hacked by the thief in order to gain access to Mendez’s vehicle.

Officials with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station recommend that victims of vehicle break-ins contact authorities.

Anyone that recognizes the thief is asked to contact the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station at 661-255-1121.

  1. That’s stupid this happens every single day if you have the ring app you will see numerous break-ins within your neighborhood or vicinity idk why this is being shared through the news media. Guess you guys don’t have anything to report on.. Why not worry and report about how Gavin newsom is an idiot and doesn’t deserve to be sitting in office or how his aunt pelosi is doing everything in her power to ruin our elected president instead of helping the American people!?!

  2. FYI a thief doesn’t “hack” a key fob, there are signal boosters that will boost your own fob inside the house and unlock the car. Solution: keep it in a faraday cage. DIY solution: wrap in foil or get a RFID-blocking pouch specifically for fobs (amazon), keep it in your fridge, etc.

  3. Hair gel Newsom(which goes well with Frisco) ruined San Francisco, now he and his cronies are ruining CA!!
The Liberals have degenerated Seattle to San Diego!! When will the sheep wake up?!?!
