A containment was set up by deputies in Newhall on Tuesday evening after a pursuit ended in a vehicle crash with persons trapped.
About 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, deputies in pursuit of a suspect in Newhall started setting up a containment when the alleged criminal crashed his vehicle near Walnut Street and 9th Street and then fled the scene leaving his passenger inside, according to initial reports.
“We staged for Sheriff, looks like it was the end of a car chase,” said Los Angeles County Fire Department Dispatcher Valderan.
The passenger in the vehicle was transported to the hospital with unknown injuries, per officials on scene.
Witnesses to the crash described seeing the suspect vehicle going down Walnut Street at over 80 mph when it clipped a car and then smashed head-on into yet another vehicle.
At least 5 vehicles were damaged in the collision, which occurred right outside Old Town Newhall favorite breakfast spot, Egg Plantation.
Motorists and pedestrians should avoid the area while the containment is active.

What did the suspect look like, wearing, etc.?!
He had brown skin, black hair, and was last seen in Newhall Arts District. Now, what are you going to do about it?
He looked like a man
I think that it’s terrible that the officers chased him like that, had they not been harassing the driver, he would not have been driving so fast to get away from the officers. It’s really the officers fault if you think about it.
Looks like the same crash scene from Wednesday morning and Wednesday evening…according to our wonderful local news team
