While informing a driver of malfunctioning brake lights last Monday, deputies arrested a convicted felon on a slew of eight charges, including possession of a zip gun, a homemade firearm.
While patrolling Canyon Country last Monday, deputies with the Crime Impact Team observed a vehicle driving with malfunctioning brake lights between Adon Avenue and Sierra Highway, according to Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
“While speaking with the male driver, they observed methamphetamine within his reach,” Arriaga said. “And a search of the driver resulted in the recovery of a fixed blade concealed within his clothing.”
When the suspect stepped out of the vehicle, deputies located drug paraphernalia, ammunition, a fully-functional zip gun and a collapsible baton, according to Arriaga.
The suspect, a previously convicted felon, was arrested for possession of a zip gun, possession of a controlled substance while armed with a firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of ammunition by a convicted felon, possession of a baton by a convicted felon, carrying a concealed dirk/dagger on a person, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
William Poole, 55, was transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station where he was booked on all charges, according to Sheriff’s officials.
