A convicted felon was arrested on multiple weapons charges after his car reportedly stalled in a Santa Clarita intersection Sunday evening.
Around 9 p.m. Sunday, a deputy patrolling came across a stalled vehicle on Copper Hill and Rio Norte Drives in Valencia, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
“During a welfare check of the driver, (the deputy) noticed he appeared unusually nervous,” Arriaga said.
While speaking with the suspect, the deputy learned the man was on active probation and did not have a valid driver’s license, according to Arriaga.
“A search of his car resulted in the recovery of a loaded firearm and additional magazines with more ammunition,” Arriaga said.
Marcus Mattox, who is also a previously convicted felon, was arrested for felon in possession of a firearm, among additional weapons charges, Arriaga added.
Mattox was arrested and transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail where he was booked.
