Convicted Felon Found With Loaded Firearm, Stolen Vehicle In Canyon Country

A convicted felon was arrested in Canyon Country after reportedly being found with a loaded firearm, a stolen vehicle, and multiple narcotics believed to be meant for sale.

On Wednesday, deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station’s Special Assignment Team (SAT) were conducting additional patrol checks near a Canyon Country home on the 26800 block of Claudette Street after “a concerned citizen” anonymously reported that he had “observed what he believed to be suspicious activity taking place.”

“During one of the patrol checks, deputies observed a male adult in possession of a stolen vehicle parked in front of the residence,” wrote Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Station, in an official post Friday.

After proceeding to detain the man, deputies learned that he was on active parole as part of the “Post Release Community Supervision” (PRCS) program.

“Deputies conducted a protective sweep of the location, also in accordance with his search conditions, and recovered several packaged narcotics and contraband consistent with use for sales, as well as a loaded firearm,” Arriaga wrote.

The man was taken into custody and transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, where he was booked on multiple charges including being a felon in possession of a loaded firearm, possession of narcotics for sale and taking a vehicle without owner’s consent.

“Remember, if you see suspicious activity taking place, please contact the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station at 661-255-1121,” Arriaga concluded.

Additionally, anonymous tips may also be submitted through “LA Crime Stoppers” at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online here.
