Agua Dulce Man Arrested For Kidnapping Toddler At Knifepoint Returns To Court

An Agua Dulce man suspected of kidnapping a toddler at knifepoint from her grandparents’ residence in 2016 returned to court Wednesday.

Thomas Ray Dillingham, 42, was charged with one count of kidnapping a victim under 14 with the use of a knife and one count of assault with a deadly weapon, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office.

Dillingham allegedly burst into a mobile home in March 2016 and took the 2-year-old at knifepoint from her grandparents, who were watching her.

When her grandfather went to the suspect’s residence in the same mobile home park and sought the child’s return, the suspect allegedly refused.

Sheriff’s deputies were able to recover the child, and they arrested Dillingham a short time later.

The toddler was transported to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital “out of an abundance of caution” at the time of the incident, officials said, adding that she had “no visible signs of injuries or trauma.”

If convicted, Dillingham faces up to 30 years in state prison.

Dillingham is expected to return to court on July 31 for a preliminary setting.
