Case Delayed For Newhall Attempted Murder Suspect

A 27-year-old stabbing suspect charged with attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon had his case delayed Wednesday after an attack last November left his sister-in-law partially paralyzed.

Guadalupe Albarran, 27, has been charged with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and violating a restraining order.

Albarran was set to enter a plea Wednesday, but has since had his arraignment delayed to Apr. 7.

Around 1:40 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 22, 2020, deputies responded to reports of an assault with a deadly weapon involving a knife on the 24100 block of Arch Street in Newhall, according to Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“During (the) investigation, deputies learned the suspect stabbed his brother’s wife with a kitchen knife multiple times in the upper torso,” said Arriaga at the time. “The suspect then approached his brother and stabbed him with the same kitchen knife multiple times in the upper torso.”

Upon arrival on the day of the attack, deputies detained Albarran in front of the home without incident, according to Deputy Arriaga.

As a result of the attack, Erika “Bird” Martinez, host of the YouTube cooking channel, “Cooking with Bird Martinez” and mother of three, was stabbed multiple times in the neck and back.

Martinez is, as a result of wounds from the attack, now reportedly a quadriplegic, according to the GoFundMe page started by her family.

During the incident, according to the GoFundMe page, Martinez’s husband Marioh was reportedly stabbed five times, suffering a severed ear and a punctured lung.

“The last 2 months or so have been some of the hardest times I have ever lived. Watching my wife in pain has been one of the hardest things to have to witness but with the Grace of God we see some light at the end of the tunnel,” wrote Marioh in a Feb. 17 update.

Martinez has been showing some signs of recovery in the past several months, and her family is hopeful for further progress. She has been moved to a medical facility that is expected to prepare her to live at home, as well as go through physical therapy five days a week.

“She is a miracle and we continue to amazing (sic) doctors with her improvement. Can’t wait to bring my wife home soon,” Marioh wrote.

  1. If you’ve ever heard You Tube cook “Bird Gang Gang” abusive/disgusting/low class barrio gang talk in front of her poor 3 children, one could imagine why her bro-in-law stabbed her! She should have been arrested long ago for life changing severe verbal child abuse! The good ole Arch St. area!

  2. Bustos…. You know nothing about this family. Its a persona….a character. The family is kind loving and supportive. The children are very well behaved, polite and adore their parents.

What you said is hateful and very judging. But whatever!!!
