Case Delayed For Newhall Stabbing Suspect Charged With Attempted Murder

A 27-year-old stabbing suspect charged with attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon had his case delayed Wednesday after an attack last November left his sister-in-law partially paralyzed.

Guadalupe Albarran, 27, has been charged with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and violating a restraining order. He was scheduled to enter a plea during an arraignment at the San Fernando courthouse on Wednesday, but that has since been continued to Feb. 24.

Around 1:40 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 22, 2020, deputies responded to reports of an assault with a deadly weapon involving a knife on the 24100 block of Arch Street in Newhall, according to Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“During (the) investigation, deputies learned the suspect stabbed his brother’s wife with a kitchen knife multiple times in the upper torso,” said Arriaga at the time. “The suspect then approached his brother and stabbed him with the same kitchen knife multiple times in the upper torso.”

Upon arrival on the day of the attack, deputies detained Albarran in front of the home without incident, according to Deputy Arriaga.

As a result of the attack, Erika “Bird” Martinez, host of the YouTube cooking channel, “Cooking with Bird Martinez” and mother of three, was stabbed multiple times in the neck and back.

Martinez is, as a result of wounds from the attack, now reportedly a quadriplegic, according to the GoFundMe page started by her family.

During the incident, according to the GoFundMe page, Martinez’s husband Marioh was reportedly stabbed five times, suffering a severed ear and a punctured lung.

“I am awake, in lots of pain — both physically and emotionally. I am trying to see her today. Bird is still intubated… Thank you all for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers. The kids are ok,” wrote Marioh in a Facebook post to his wife’s followers.

Martinez has been showing some signs of recovery in the past several months, and her family is hopeful for further progress.

“Erika will start another round of therapy this coming week. She’s doing everything she can to get better soon,” wrote Marioh in a recent post on GoFundMe. “Please continue sharing her story and her gofundme link. The family still needs the support. God bless you all for your prayers and support.”

  1. So… nothing happened then? How is this news?

  2. Punch up you tube cooking creature “Bird Gang Gang” Martinez and see the type of environment she exhibited for her Three children. Does anyone wonder how or why this would happen to her and her husband!?! The brother Guadalupe already had a restraining order for other attacks against them and they still Hung around him and let him in the Arch street apartment where at least 5 were living!

  3. Another Gascon dream case and will let him go. This is the culture now embraced by California voters.

  4. Praying for you Bird ??

  5. My God I was so saddened by this news . They should of never opened the door & let him in. Her husband must of felt terrible that his own. Brother did this horrific assualt on his wife & thank God no children were hurt. All that cursing she does just sends negative energy & vibrations to every thing around her .She speak positive words & blessings & stay away from these dangerous individuals who could harm her & her. Children .
