Valencia Man Found Guilty For Involuntary Manslaughter After Strangling Boyfriend

A Santa Clarita man was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in the killing of his boyfriend.

On Wednesday Christian Ortiz, was found not guilty for murder, but guilty for involuntary manslaughter  for strangling Brayan “Brian” Rodriguez, 20, and hiding his body at a Valencia home in September 2017, according to Ricardo Santiago, spokesperson for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

The couple had been arguing the last time Rodriguez was seen, according to Rodriguez’s family.

His family went on to initially report him missing on Sept. 22, 2017.

Several days later, a search party was sent out to attempt to find Rodriguez, at which time Ortiz identified himself to a KHTS reporter as the victim’s boyfriend.

Rodriguez was eventually found later that day, dead inside of Ortiz’s Valencia home.

Deputies then arrested Ortiz the following morning in connection with the murder, according to Sheriff’s Department arrest records.

Ortiz pleaded not guilty in February 2018 at the San Fernando Superior Court.

He is scheduled to be Sentenced on June 29.

  1. Are you kidding me? So he wrapped his hands around someone’s throat and choked them to death but that’s not murder!? He could be sentenced to nothing more than probation for this. The MAXIMUM penalty is four years in prison.

What a completely lawless world the Democrats have created. No wonder every major city is setting homicide records this year- the Democrats have legalized it.

    • Do you have anything better to do than comment on every news item this rag publishes? You have no idea what you’re talking about.
As a deputy district attorney (who hates his boss BTW) we are bound by the law. A law that has been in place for decades, regarding homicide and intent. Have you ever served on a jury for a murder trial? Have you any experience as a prosecutor? Until you have, how about stop making idiot comments that you know nothing about.

This isn’t a Democrat thing. Or a Republican thing. It’s the law and burden of proof with intent.

Seriously, you guys would blame political parties for the sun coming up each day if you had the chance. Not everything in life is about this stupid political civil war that you have put us in.

      • One would think that a deputy district attorney would know that involuntary manslaughter is when the homicide occurred as an indirect result of recklessness or negligence. It doesn’t get much more direct that putting your hands around someone’s throat.

You liberals (and I know you are one or you would not have a job) want to make every little thing about politics right up until you are obviously and undeniably in the wrong. THEN you cry about how everyone else is too political.

This state has a Democrat super-majority and a Dem Governor. LA County is ruled almost exclusively by Democrats. And what has this gotten us? A murder a day, almost two rapes per day, a hundred stolen cars per day. I don’t need to be a lawyer or sit on a jury to be outraged by the ridiculously high levels of crime.

Oh, I know you’d like to silence me, to prevent me from pointing out the miserable failures you Democrats are at everything but stealing tax dollars and accepting bribes. But, I think I also struck a nerve- some tiny shred of humanity within you that feels guilt at your part in the Democrat Criminal Empire.

        • For the record you’re wrong. I’m a lifelong Republican. And I’m embarrassed, ashamed and dismayed at what has become of my party. It’s become a creepy cult – worshiping and following a bona-fide loser who continues to ruin what people like Ronald Reagan represented.

Enough said. I’m going back to work for you, and everyone else in this county. You’re welcome BTW.

        • I was on the jury.
          we debated for 4 days.

You are an a-hole and know nothing about the judicial process

          • Barry You believed his story, only his story. He was able to also fool family and friends while searching for the victim. He continued to be a great lier. The proof was clear. He killed someones child, brother and friend. Now he is out as if nothing happened.

          • I know the murderer personally. He did it intentionally. He had a good lawyer and he was an informant behind bars so they let him play the system.

      • Well said Mayhem! Sorry Ass.Dis.Attorney but our system is corrupt and care more about criminals. If prosecutor wanted to stick it to him he would have came up more charges and pushed harder. Worked in law.
        So, I know.

    • I was in jail with Christian and he was very remorseful for what had happen I’m sorry for what happen but believe the juror got it right. He never once denied killing the young man just that it was a accident. my prayer go out to the family of the victim and I really would hope Christian can get his life back together and finish his studies.

  2. Well Said Debbie Bell and TAP Mayhem
I couldn’t have said it better myself…. Los Angeles County – where I spent 27 years, s run by Democrats and has now gone to the dogs! Hence I moved to Florida just over a year ago where everything is mainly run by Republicans.. My County here in Florida has the lowest crime rate in Florida and in the top 3 lowest crime rates across the Country. I’m afraid Tina Jennings, God Bless her, is no more of a Republican than the alligator that was in our lake last week!
    Best Wishes to you all!
    Victoria

  3. This is ridiculous. He killed hon and his his body and the. Proceeded to search for him.
He’s going to get let out on probation since he’s been in jail since it happened. His sentence will include time served.
I feel sorry for the victim, Christian will continue on with his life and Brayan’s family will never be the same.

  4. Now he needs a new boy friend.

  5. It is a D & R thing—-look what Liberals (Ds) have degenerated to every city from Seattle to LA, Chicago, Baltimore, Minneapolis, Kenosha, Michigan, NY, etc., etc.!

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
