Deputies Investigating ‘Swatting’ Hoax At Stevenson Ranch Home

A “swatting” hoax incident was called at a family apartment in Stevenson Ranch after a false alarm call occurred Tuesday evening and is being investigated by deputies.

At 5 p.m. Tuesday deputies received a call stating that a son had shot his father in an apartment on Armstrong Circle in Stevenson Ranch, according to Sergeant Rios with the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station.

Scanner traffic at the time indicated a gunshot wound victim and medical responders were sent to the scene.

Upon arrival deputies made call-outs to the family inside the home, according to Rios. Deputies wore tactical gear and had assault rifles. This included a mother and son.

“We approached the family and realized the call had been a false alarm,” said Rios.

As of 8:20 p.m the investigation of the incident is ongoing.

  1. This happened to my family about a month ago at 1 in the morning. At least 4 of SCV finest were pounding on my door demanding that I open the door after it was reported that somebody saw an injured woman on my upstairs window. We were all sleeping. Funny how tough they act with law abiding citizens.
