One person has been cited in connection with a shooting incident in Saugus on Wednesday evening.
At about 8 p.m. Wednesday, deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station received reports of a man who arrived at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital with a gunshot wound to his thigh, according to Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the SCV Station.
“After investigation, deputies learned the incident was an accidental discharge by the male with his own firearm,” Arriaga said.
The firearm was recovered at the residence and the gun owner was cited for misdemeanor discharge of a firearm, Arriaga stated.
There are no other suspects, or persons outstanding.

The incident is reported to have taken place on Darby Place near Circle J Ranch Park in Saugus at around 5 p.m. Wednesday, according to Lieutenant Dmitri Barkon with the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station.
One person is reported to have suffered a gunshot wound and was taken to Henry Mayo Hospital, according to Barkon.
“According to the call of a gunshot victim at Henry Mayo, the patient is not being cooperative with hospital staff,” said Barkon. “Deputies are still on scene.”
As of 6 p.m. deputies are still on scene at Darby Place to investigate the cause of the incident.
“We are investigating the cause of the incident, it may have been due to an assault, self-inflicted or some other reason,” said Barkon.
