One individual reportedly fled southbound from the scene on foot after the crash.
A family was involved in the collision and the incident was determined to be a felony hit and run due to the fact that injuries were sustained, according to officials.
“The other vehicle had five individuals who were transported to a local hospital,” said Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. “Two or three of them were young children between the ages of four and eight. They sustained minor injuries.”
The suspect was described as a white male in his 20’s or 30’s, with a tattoo on his forehead, and possibly bleeding from their head due to the crash.
Officials with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Aero Bureau were present to help search for the suspect, according to officials on scene.
The collision resulted in officials closing down Wiley Canyon Road in both directions for a short period of time as deputies investigated the scene.
“We have one traffic investigator who is currently at the hospital with the injured parties trying to get more information,” Miller said. “Their primary focus is locating the other party who may also be injured. That’s our primary focus right now.”
The status of any injuries as result of the crash, and the identity of the suspect, is currently unknown.
