One individual was hospitalized following a deputy-involved fight in Valencia Wednesday night.

Just after 7 p.m., the Sheriff’s Department dispatch contacted Los Angeles County Fire Department regarding a patient involved in an altercation with a deputy.

“We were requested by sheriff dispatch,” said Supervisor Michael Pittman with the L.A. County Fire Department. “It was a deputy-involved fight. There were injuries to the civilian and the deputy was not injured.”

Paramedics responded to the 25000 block of McBean Parkway where one patient was taken to an area hospital, according to Supervisor Pittman.

Preliminary but unconfirmed reports stated there were two occupants in a vehicle being investigated by area deputies. The driver is said to have become uncooperative which resulted in a “use of force against the driver,” according to Sergeant Dmitry Barkon with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

Deputies were still on scene investigating as of 8 p.m., according to Sergeant Barkon.
