Domestic Assault Suspect Detained In Canyon Country

A domestic assault suspect has been detained Monday afternoon after an incident in Canyon Country, officials said.

Around 12:20 p.m. Monday, emergency responders received reports of domestic violence that had escalated to a possible stabbing on the 26700 block of Madigan Drive in Canyon Country, according to Leslie Lua, spokesperson with the Los Angeles County Fire department.

“We got the call at 12:20, units were on scene at 12:25,” said Lua. “We were responding to reports of a stabbing. There were no injuries treated and no transports made.”

The suspect reportedly left the scene, and an individual matching his description was discovered nearby at the community pool.

Deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s station remained on scene to investigate the incident as of 12:40 p.m. Monday.

“We did get someone that we detained, and we haven’t confirmed that it is the guy, but we’re looking into it,” said Sgt. Aaron Jacobs with the SCV Sheriff’s Station.

The information about the stabbing was third-hand and later was discovered to have been incorrect, according to Jacobs.

No injuries were reported in the incident, according to Fire officials.
