Two people were injured after getting hit by a drunk driver over the weekend in Valencia.
On Sunday at around 4:20 p.m., officers with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Newhall Area Office responded to a traffic collision involving a drunk driver on SR-126, east of Travel Village, according to Officer Josh Greengard, spokesperson for the CHP Newhall Area Office.
“The collision occurred between two vehicles, a Jeep and a Ford pickup truck,” said Greengard.
The driver of the Jeep was driving under the influence of alcohol when he collided with a Ford pickup truck, according to CHP officials
The two people inside the truck suffered unknown injuries as a result of the crash, according to Greengard.
The alleged drunk driver, Nelson Zelaya, 37, from Los Angeles, was arrested for felony DUI due to him causing injuries to the victims, Greengard added.
Zelaya was booked into the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station with bail set at $100,000, according to booking logs.

Glad to see that bodily injury as a result of a DUI still results in arrest and bail. Sadly most people dont think that driving around high is a DUI as every other car on the road has pot smoke wafting out of it.
3 to 5 years on the slammer might just teach him not to drink and drive. However, the far left will argue that he should be released back into the community to see if he just might kill someone.
