A drunk man was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly threw an object at a deputy’s vehicle in Santa Clarita.
Around 8:15 a.m. Tuesday, a deputy traveling northbound on Sand Canyon near Lost Canyon Roads in Canyon Country observed a man walking on the sidewalk throwing an unknown object at his patrol vehicle, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, a spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
“The deputy parked his vehicle and detained the male pending further investigation,” Arriaga said.

While speaking with the detained individual, the deputy detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his breath and person, according to Sheriff’s officials.
Richard Peterson, 62, from Santa Cruz, was arrested for being drunk in public and throwing objects at a moving vehicle, both misdemeanors, Arriaga added.
Peterson was arrested and transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail with bail set at $0, according to arrest records.
