Ex-Saugus High School Principal Charged With Perjury, Conflict Of Interest In Connection With Chinese Exchange Program

Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced Monday that former Saugus High School principal Bill Bolde has been charged with perjury and conflict of interest in connection with helping establish a student exchange program in China.

Bolde was arrested around 7 a.m. Saturday by deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) Fraud and Cyber Division after he allegedly turned himself into police, according to LASD officials.

“Those who break the law by putting their own best interest before the people they are supposed to serve will be held accountable for their actions,” District Attorney Gascón said.

William Bolde, 65, was charged with one felony count each of perjury and conflict of interest. The case was filed for warrant on December 9, according to LADA officials.

Bolde helped set up a student exchange program with a high school in Gaoxin, China as well as creating a nonprofit organization to administer the program. He is charged with having a conflict of interest because he was still principal at Saugus High School while he had an employment agreement with the nonprofit, LADA officials said.

“The District was made aware that the Los Angeles Public Integrity Unit was investigating allegations of misconduct regarding former Saugus High School Principal Bill Bolde,” William S. Hart Union High School District officials said in a Saturday statement. “The District cooperated fully with law enforcement, and appreciates law enforcement’s efforts in this matter. The District has no additional comment at this time.”

Bolde also is charged with lying on disclosure forms.

He is expected to be arraigned on January 12.

The case remains under investigation by the District Attorney’s Bureau of Investigation, Public Integrity Unit.

  1. Unreal. What a waste of time and treasure. I wonder who had it in for this guy? Meanwhile, Bill and Hillary run free, Don Lemon goes unchecked and we have a President who became a millionaire on just $170,000 a year.

  2. You are trying to compare circumstances that are unrelated. This is about one local person in our valley that is being investigated for wrongdoing. Let it play out.

  3. Nice witch hunt for him . No way he did anything wrong . The person who filed the lawsuit has a history of suing people . Has four homes on a teachers salary . Sad when they go after the wrong person
