Felony Elder Abuse Suspect Arrested After Physically, Financially Abusing Parents

A Valencia woman was arrested on felony elder abuse and forgery charges Wednesday after she allegedly abused her parents physically and financially, officials said.

On Wednesday around 8:30 a.m., deputies responded to a residence on the 23900 block of Decoro Drive, Valencia for a reported elder abuse investigation, said Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“The suspect is the adult daughter of the victims, a male, 90’s and a female, 80’s,” Miller said.
Deputies on scene learned that the suspect was physically and financially abusing her elderly parents, according to Miller.

Monique Sands, 54, from Valencia was arrested on felony charges of elder abuse and forgery exceeding $950 in connection with the alleged physical and financial abuse of the victims, Miller said.

Sands was arrested and transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s jail with bail set at $70,000, according to arrest records.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
