Fifth DUI Served To Canyon Country Man, Booked On Felony Charges

Deputies arrested a Canyon Country man Sunday and charged him with his fifth DUI, a felony, officials said.

Around 10:30 p.m. Sunday, deputies received a call for service on Nearbrook Street for a person possibly driving under the influence, said Sgt. Scott Shoemaker with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“Deputies searched the area and located the suspect,” Shoemaker said.

Through the deputies’ investigation, they determined the suspect had four prior convictions of DUI, with Sunday being his fifth arrest, making it a felony, according to Shoemaker.

In order to be charged with a felony DUI, a person must either injure a person other than themself or have three prior DUI convictions within the last 10 years, according to Sheriff’s officials.

The level of intoxication is still pending due to a blood test, Shoemaker said.

Jorge Enriquez, 35, of Canyon Country, was arrested and charged with felony DUI, according to officials.

Enriquez was transported and booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriffs Station jail with bail set at $100,000, according to arrest records.

  1. Liberal Douche bag Gavin Newsom doesn’t want him arrested and instead given a medal for getting a 5th DUI

  2. What happened to 3 strikes???

  3. You’re joking right 5th DUI? What the hell is wrong with justice system and the laws and governors ? Let me guess they didn’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings. The law is the law so why can’t it be enforced? You me to tell me that people now can get up to 5 DUI ? CA is going to hell in a hand bag.

  4. I personally know someone who has gotten 3 and after his third one he was sentenced to a year in jail. He served the entire year . I can not confirm if this is still the penalty today. What this article failed to state is , is he a legal citizen or not. If not then its time to take the train and if found on US soil again then that should be a new set of penalties.

on a side not F Newsom. Not for this article but just in general

  5. What happened to 3 strikes law, and why is this guy allowed access to a car?

  6. The tender minded bleeding heart Liberals that created & voted for Prop. 47 & 57 and AB 109 have continued to destroy the once wonderful USA!! Our poor children! But don’t be judgmental, he might be a decent, wonderful DACA child——-Hasn’t learned the ways of a civilized decent society!

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
