Fight Breaks Out Between KTLA Videographer, Business Owner In Santa Clarita

Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station deputies are investigating a possible fight between a KTLA videographer and a Newhall business owner Thursday.

Around 3:15 p.m. Thursday, deputies received reports of a fight near a hair salon on the 22940 block of Lyons Avenue in Newhall Avenue, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

The incident involved a KTLA videographer and a store owner, according to officials on scene.

The store owner was reportedly unhappy with the news outlet doing a story near his business and felt uncomfortable with the news crew being there, according to Arriaga.

As of Thursday afternoon it is unknown if any arrests were made, according to Sheriff’s officials.

Fight Breaks Out Between KTLA Videographer, Business Owner In Santa Clarita

  1. Doing a story near the business ?? Not that I’m a fan of ktla but they do have the right to film a story in public, the property management or the property owner can ask them to leave. News outlets aren’t stupid they know their rights
Wondering if the salon was the story..
I’ll watch ktla tonight for sure !!

  2. Stories are always BREAKING NEWS.

I never seem to see anything more. It’s always a one and done.

Or am I just missing updates?

  3. Pretty sure this had to do with the massage therapist that was arrested. Appears to be the same shopping center.

  4. Pretty sure this had to do with the massage therapist that was arrested. Appears to be the same shopping center as his massage parlor.

  5. I agree. What is the salon owner upset about? KTLA wasn’t doing a story about the salon, but a business nearby. Curious what the salon owner might be trying to hide? Probably nothing, but there’s really no reason to attack a videographer doing his/her job. Not cool!

    • The salon has nothing to do with the story, it was near a salon which clearly they should of said Fight broke out in Oaks Plaza parking lot and not mention business that have nothing to do with the news article

  6. It doesn’t say that it was the salon owner, said a nearby “business owner” was upset. I know the salon owner and highly doubt she would do something like this!!

  7. They were likely doing a story about the alleged rapist from the massage place in the same strip mall.

  8. It was near a salon, this has nothing to do with the salon or owner. It they had said near the dog groomer or Dry cleaner they also had nothing to do with the story. It was in the parking lot of Oaks Plaza, news outlets should be careful about using business’s in their story that have nothing to do with the news. It was with an owner in that center and a KTLA camera man. Let’s not hurt small business’s that have nothing to do with the story by making stuff up and speculating.

  9. Near a hair salon does not mean the salon is involved. News reporting should be more thoughtful and not drag innocent business’s into their reporting. A fight broke out in Oaks Plaza parking lot after words were exchanged between the videographer and the center’s representative (who owns a business in the center) when they were asked to leave as they were taking up several parking places, and going up to anyone walking in the center trying to interview them of a situation most knew nothing about for several hour’s. Many stood around doing nothing while the fight erupted except filming on their phones including the KTLA reporter. Hope this helps clear up what you won’t see on the news.

Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work.
