At around 10:35 p.m. Monday, officials with the San Fernando Police Department received reports of a robbery at the Sylmar/San Fernando Metrolink Station, according to Chief Anthony Vairo of the San Fernando Police Department.

“The suspects approached the victim and robbed him of some of his personal effects,” Vairo said.

The suspects then reportedly boarded a train heading northbound towards Santa Clarita, according to officials.

“Our deputies received a crime broadcast that San Fernando PD and LAPD sent out after a robbery with suspects’ descriptions,” said Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. “They relayed to deputies that suspects had boarded a train heading towards Santa Clarita.”

Deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station were then dispatched to the Newhall Metrolink station in an effort to cut the suspects off.

“Sure enough, they got there just in time as the train arrived,” Vairo said.

Deputies proceeded to stop the train, and detained five individuals. Four of those five individuals were arrested after being positively identified by the victim, who had been brought up by officers from the San Fernando Police Department.

One of the four was also found to in possession of a firearm, according to officials on scene. However, the weapon is not believed to have been used in the initial robbery, according to officials.

The four males that were arrested were reportedly from the Antelope Valley, and ranged in age from 19 to 27, according to Miller.

“The deputies took the suspects into custody without incident,” Miller said. “The suspects were transported back to San Fernando for booking.”

  1. Ha-Ha! Once again, another great job by out local Sheriffs Deputies!! Gotta love em! ?

  2. In the past I’ve been a bit critical , because I’ve been mistaken for someone. Handcuffed and placed on the curb until I was cleared to leave . Even though it’s unfair and I refuse to give up my personal freedoms for a false sense of security. I am glad these guys got the right people without incident . Kudos on the promptness and accuracy

    • Can’t have it both ways… if the laws were written in such a manor that Hamburger allen describes, Well no one could be arrested unless the Police eye witnessed the entire crime in progress. So great job to all the Law Enforcement Agencies involved. Now the accused will go to court, get a slap on the wrist and be out to commit more crime in a few days.
