A pursuit suspect who reportedly stole a Subaru from Santa Monica was taken into custody Friday evening after traveling over 100 miles per hour, officials said.
On Friday, an individual reportedly stole a Subaru Forester from a dealership in Santa Monica according to Officer Josh Greengard, spokesperson for the California Highway Patrol Newhall Area Office
Law enforcement personnel located the vehicle in the Inglewood area around 6 p.m. where the pursuit started, according to officials.
Due to the suspect driving recklessly, the pursuit was discontinued, however media airships tracked the vehicle as it traveled up Pacific Coast Highway.
Once the suspect made his way across the valley and on to the Eastbound 118 Freeway, officers with the CHP West Valley Office began pursuing the vehicle.
“The CHP Newhall Area took over the pursuit at westbound I-210 at Yarnell Street,” said Greengard. “We pursued the suspect northbound on the I-5 Freeway, the suspect was driving over 100 mph, in and out of lanes.”

The suspect exited Parker Road and stopped “abruptly” at the Shell Gas station off Castaic Road around 9:15 p.m., according to Greengard.
Gregory Lamar Paris Jr., 35, of Newhall, was taken into custody and booked for being in possession of a stolen vehicle and evading a police officer in a reckless manner, both felonies, Greengard said.
Paris was taken to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station to be booked.
