An intoxicated Canyon Country man was arrested Monday after he allegedly spat on an EMT, officials said.
On Monday, around 9 p.m., deputies responded to a residence on Marchland Avenue, Canyon Country regarding a landlord-tenant dispute call for service, said Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
“The suspect was reportedly renting a room at the house,” Miller said. “On the night of the incident, the suspect was intoxicated and verbally argumentative with members of the household.”
Deputies came to the location in efforts “to keep the peace,” according to Miller.
After making contact with the suspect and escorting him to his room, everything seemed to be under control.
“As deputies were in their cars, getting ready to leave the location, the suspect suddenly ran outside to the patrol car and started hitting the patrol car window with his hands,” Miller said.
The suspect became combative with deputies, Miller said.
EMTs were called to assist in assessing the suspect, according to Miller.
While the EMT was assessing the suspect he allegedly spat on the EMT, according to officials.
Genaro Campa, 32, from Canyon Country was arrested on charges of battery on an EMT and public intoxication, both misdemeanors, according to Miller.
Campa was arrested and transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s station’s jail with bail set at $20,000, according to arrest records.
