A Lancaster man was arrested Tuesday after smoking meth and entering backyards in Newhall, officials said.
On Tuesday, around 8:30 a.m., reports were received of a male adult entering people’s backyards in a Newhall neighborhood.
Dispatched deputies found a male adult fitting the description of the suspect, officials said.
“He was trying to hide behind a truck,” said Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station. “He admitted to deputies he was high from smoking meth.”
In one yard, the suspect had allegedly attempted to open a sliding glass door to gain entry into the residence, according to Miller.
41-year-old suspect James Marsh, of Lancaster, was arrested on charges of felony burglary, misdemeanor under the influence of controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of methamphetamine, according to Miller.

Thank You Deputies for locating and arresting this guy!!! Theft is a constant issue with our mail, cars, and homes. Grateful for the hard working Sheriff !!!
If someone had shot him, certainly nobody would miss him! ?
No chance of rehabilitation? Summary executions like in Manila? Addiction is a disease.
People who seek help, have resources available. Plenty of resources and funding designated for helping drug addicts reach sobriety and helping those in need in general.
It’s up to a addict to choose sobriety. ??
Hitting bottom is a prequel to wanting help.
Executing the sick is a fascist idea. It has no place in a normal society. It is extremist and sadistic, reminiscent of our enemies in ww2. Bullies need healing too.
Hopefully he doesn’t enter your home while your family is home and you’re not.
Hopefully he doesn’t have a couple of his drugged out crackhead friends with him.
Hopefully he is right at the point of “rock bottom” and comes to his senses moments before committing a violent act against your family.
Hopefully if he does enter your home and is violent, someone there is able to stop him before you or your family is hurt.
He’s 41 years old. you would have thought he would have grown up and seeked help by now.
Hopefully the burden of your hate will lift before your poison spreads to another generation
Obviously he fell through the cracks. If he has a life-long learning disability his age isn’t that relevant. A lot of high functioning mentally disabled people aren’t treated by charities or public health and they resort to self medication with street drugs. It’s unusual for such people to behave the same as criminals who are just plain antisocial. He should realize he came close to being euthanized and apply himself harder to the rehabilitation he needs, should it be offered.
Yep, from Lanc/Palmdale/Bakersfield—-You use escape/excuse words to lessen their bad behavior which lightens bad lifestyles to make them victims. These fools probably have been doping since high school before they dropped out. It’s degenerate lifestyles!
Takes one to know one
Alice, hopefully the burden of your hate will lift before your poison spreads to another generation
Alice in wonderland: That sounds like a elementary school excusing phrase! They made the choice to illegally buy & use the deadly illegal drugs and associate with other low life’s!
I hope your kids or family never have to go through addiction. This is for the pieces of s*&t who think its that easy to kick an addiction or just want to execute someone because they are addicted. I’ve had it happen to my family, including a child and it is the worse thing imaginable. You have to hope and pray they learn their lesson and get the help they need. Thankfully the people in my family did and are still sober but its a long road. Not all addicts are drop outs and rock bottom is the place you do and dont hope for.
Yes, I know this person and when he’s sober he’s a great person and father. Unfortunately some things happened in his life and he chose the wrong way to deal with them. So before you cast stones, just know this could be your friend, brother or even son. I dont condone or make excuses for what he did whatsoever but to hear the comments above is just horrible.
And also, if you dont have good insurance you CANNOT get into any kind of facility for treatment. You meet more users in NA and halfway houses than on the streets.
