Magic Mountain Assault Suspect Charged With Battery On A Peace Officer

A man arrested at Six Flags Magic Mountain was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and battery on a police officer after a deputy-involved fight on Saturday afternoon, officials said.

Mario Velasquez, 24, of Newhall was arrested by deputies after reportedly attempting to run over an employee of Magic Mountain, according to Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

The incident was reported just before 5 p.m. Saturday near the employee lot of Six Flags off Magic Mountain Parkway in Valencia, according to Miller.

“A male adult allegedly was driving erratically and attempting to hit other vehicles,” Miller said. “(He) was combative with deputies.”

Firefighters with the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to the scene, but no victims were transported to the hospital, according to a dispatch supervisor for the department.

Velasquez was arrested on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, resisting a peace officer and battery on a peace officer.

The suspect is currently being held on $60,000 bail.
